In July 2016, Dr. Avi Shelemay attended Dr. Istvan Urban’s course, “Principles of Vertical and Horizontal Ridge Augmentation” in Budapest, Hungary. This course focused on building bone vertically and horizontally in order to place dental implants. This ridge augmentation surgery with autogenous bone harvesting allows patients who were previously not candidates for dental implants, to have enough bone for implant placement.
Dr. Shelemay is a believer in continuing education. He is currently a Clinical Instructor at the University of Toronto School of Dentistry working with the Periodontal graduate residents. He has also taught many courses to dentists in the placement of dental implants. He is co-owner of LITE (Live Implant Training and Education) which teaches implant placement and bone grafting techniques to general dentists.
Dr. Shelemay welcomes patients who were previously told that they are not a good candidate for dental implants to meet with him for a second opinion. (Pictured: Dr. Avi Shelemay with Dr. Istvan Urban.)
